Altars affect peoples lives both positively and negatively:
As we have seen in the case of Gideon in Judges 6. The father's altar that his father had at home affected the Israelites negatively in those days and for them to get freedom from their oppressors that Altar had to be destroyed. The bible records in that scripture that the Midian power oppressed them. The Altars that are in place may be oppressive if they are not godly Altars.
The Altars that Abraham and his son and grandson raised were Altars that attracted the blessings of God not only in their generations but also the generations that followed them. Even up to date the Israelites are still blessed because of the Altars that were raised to God by there forefathers.
The Altar that Jeroboam raised in Judea caused the Israelites to sin against God and God punished them.
Altars cause people to behave in a certain way which can be normal or abnormal. The bibles says that our father who are long gone sinned against God and we bear their punishment.(Lamentation 5:7.
) People suffer a great deal because of the altars that their fathers left behind. Our father worshipped the gods of their tribes through dead ancestors. We said that Altars are places that the living had communion with the spirit world. When we have communication with the dead through the altars of our fathers who are long gone we open doors and avenues of curses on our lives. As Abraham and his descendants received blessings through the Altars that they built the same is also the same about the Altars of our fathers.
I have a true story of a family where the parents died and were buried. One day people came and were singing and dancing using African drums. One of the family members told them that the dead are not happy when they use the drums they never listened to the warning. In that home there was a girl who was insane and as the drums continued to beat she killed a baby by trampling the baby. Here we learn that through certain things we can open doors of death in our homes. In this family the altars of the fathers were still operational. No body had dealt with them therefore the will of the dead was at work.
In other places just as in the case in the book of Acts 19. There are Altars that are against the Gospel of Christ who is the hope of all Glory. People in these places live hopeless lives and not unless something is done they suffer a great deal.We find places where people are drug addicts and drunkards and nothing seems to work in such places. These places could be towns, cities or even countries. In Africa most countries are in such bad state that all we know about those countries are wars and bloodshed, drug trafficking and all manners of crimes.
If we do our investigations of what is wrong in these places or nations we will find that the altars in these places have everything to do with the happenings there.
The same applies to places were Godly altars are, you will find a people who are sober and upright.Things work out well in these places.
We need to identify the Altars that our fathers built by checking what is the trend of our lives. Are the negatives outweighing the positives? For every positive thing our fathers did, we reap positively and for every negative thing they did, we reap the negative.
Lets remember the will of a person comes to effect after that person dies.
